Organization Profile and Background
Pastoralist Concern PC is a pastoralist-initiated, -inspired and -led CSO working toward sustainable development in pastoralist areas of Ethiopia since 1995, their vision is “to see improved and sustainable livelihood of the pastoralist communities of Ethiopia and further realize strong co-operations with neighboring countries’ pastoralist communities.” PC works within our target area in the Somali region, engaging in both multi-sector development programming and emergency responses across diverse sectors that include health and nutrition, WASH, environmental resilience, education, protection and women’s empowerment. PC works with the hard-to-reach pastoralist and Agro-pastoralist populations, including in Somali region. Skills training, mobilization and organization, awareness creation, input provision, value chain development, and market linkages are among the key strategies and approaches of PC to improving health and nutrition and to building livelihood resilience. PC has roughly 110 permanent staff, including staff with technical experience in community-based programming, protection, gender, GBV, resilience, WASH, Health and Nutrition who are based at their head office and field offices. The combined experience and technical expertise of Concern and PC means that we are well positioned to have a strong impact by implementing the targeted cross-border Irish Aid Child Wasting Initiative in the targeted pastoral communities.

Objective of the position:

  • The Storekeeper is responsible for coordinating general warehouse operations and activities including dispatching and receiving deliveries, conducting stock checks, documenting warehouse transactions and records, and storage of inventory.She/he is also responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the material handling equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Replenishing stock inventories following established warehouse guidelines.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment in accordance with regulations.
  • Managing the store layout.
  • Receiving, loading, and shelving all supplies.
  • Performing stock-related tasks such as returning, distribution and storing of goods.
  • Inspecting deliveries for discrepancies or damage.
  • Reporting damaged inventories for record-keeping and reimbursement.
  • Rotating stock and disposing of surplus and expired quantities.
  • Coordinating and handling equipment movement.
  • Ensuring organized allocation of inventory placed in the warehouse and store.
  • Cross-verifying the monthly report at the end of each month.
  • Ensuring proper completion of documentation to place an order and make a purchase.
  • Generating a Material Received Report (MRR) in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring proper storage of goods following the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method.
  • Receive, store, and issue supplies and equipment and compiles records of supply transactions, verify that supplies received are listed on requisitions and invoices.
  • Store and release supplies or equipment.
  • Record the number and the kinds of supplies.
  • Compile the records of the supplies and check the supplies from time to time
  • Maintain the warehouse, records area and stores area in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Receive materials so distribute it to all stores at sites.
  • Coordinate between all stores at sites
  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements:

Qualification and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in procurement, supplies management, asset management and related disciplines accompanied by 3+ years of relevant experience as store keeper for BA and +5 years for Diploma, preferred in humanitarian and development sectors.
  • verbal and written communication skills in English, Amharic and Af Somali is Mandatory.
  • Good computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
