Job Description:

     JOB FUNCTION:                          

    Responsible for all duties that are not directly related to instruction and student achievement including assisting the Head of School in managing school activities; supervising of administrative support personnel; ensuring administrative and finance efficiencies’, coordinating activities such as special events; transportation and building maintenance.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Supervise and evaluate all staff under his/her supervision mentioned above.
    • Manage all school scheduling, special events, field trips, cafeteria, transportation, maintenance, playgrounds and cleaning.
    •  Manage community use of school site.
    • Responsible for school safety plan: disaster preparation, fire drills, student, staff and public safety, and student health.
    • Maintain equipment, textbook and supply inventories.
    • Coordinate with the Head of School to maintain a positive, safe learning environment for students by enforcing the school discipline plan.
    • Responsible for school public relations and communications plan: promote the school and district through positive relations with community, businesses, parents and students.
    • Maintain regular attendance.
    • Perform other duties as assigned. 

    TEAM LEADERSHIP

    MANAGEMENT 

    • Lead and manage larger school operations team. Staff could include: office manager, office assistants, non-instructional aides, cleaners, maintenance staff, transportation staff, and facilities service team members.
    • Meet with school leadership team regularly to discuss goals, progress towards goals, trends and challenges, areas for growth, and action plans.
    •  Create a culture of service and support developing team members to excel in their roles and ensuring the school maintains operational excellence.

    • Communicate respectfully and thoughtfully with parent remaining sensitive to different families’ cultures, values and needs.
    • Work with the school leadership team to implement the school’s mission; coordinate work and collaborate with the Sandford family.
    • Assist in creating a school culture with staff, focused on strong academic achievement, fairness, respect and high expectations for behaviour.
    • Ensure staff members understand the procedures and have the resources to operate effectively.

    •  Collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve personal practice and achieve overall goals and mission of the school and the network.
    • Access meaningful learning experiences (professional development opportunities, and ideas from colleagues and supervisors) and exercise judgment in accepting findings as valid for application.
    •  Reflect critically upon operational leadership experience, identify areas for further professional development as part of a professional development plan that is linked to school goals, access meaningful learning experiences, and listen thoughtfully to other viewpoints and respond constructively to suggestions and criticisms.
    • Use feedback to inform and update Individual Professional Development Plan.
    • Fulfil all outlined and related functions professionally and thoroughly.

    Reports to: Head of School

     Supervises:  Housing/Property, Procurement, Facilities, Safety & Security, as well as Copy & Printing sections.

    Job Requirements:

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience in public school or a business of similar size and complexity.

    QULAIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • MSc/MBA Degree required with course work in Business Administration, Organisational Management, or related discipline desired. 

    KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

    KNOWLEDGE OF:

    • Practices, policies and procedures involved in the functional areas assigned.
    •  Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
    • Excellent command of English (Oral and written)
    • Research methods and report writing techniques.
    • Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities.
    • District organizations, operations, policies, procedures and objectives.
    • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
    • Health and safety regulations.
    •  Principles and practices of administration, supervision and training.
    • Technical aspects of field of specialty.
    • Budget preparation and control.
    • Staff discipline policies, procedures, laws and regulations.

     ABILITY TO:

    • Plan, organize, coordinate and control large group events, classified meetings, and community and family engagement events.
    • Communicate effectively to various audiences.
    • Prepare and deliver oral presentations.
    • Work cooperatively with others.
    • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
    • Maintain records and prepare reports.
    • Prioritise and schedule work.
    • Train, supervise and evaluate personnel.
    • Maintain current knowledge of technological advances.
    • Analyse situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
    • Understand and work within the scope of authority.
    • Meet schedules and time lines.
    • Plan and organize work.
    • Use computer, telephone and alarm system proficiently.
    • Manage conflict.
