Job Description:

LonAdd HR Consultancy Plc (www.lonadd.com) is a Recruitment & Outsourcing Company based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with branch offices in Dukem and Hawassa. We are looking to recruit a qualified-on Logistics Superintendent for our client Tulu Kapi Gold Mine.

Job Purpose

Supply logistic support and overseeing logistic processes in support of objectives of the Company.Design and implement the full inbound and outbound supply chain, where customer service and cost competitiveness are key drivers.Provide a logistics management control system. Proactive management of the logistics transport route to ensure cost effective and timeous receipt of material.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute logistics strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective movement of materials and equipment to and from the Mine License, including any holding areas en route.
  • Ensure that policies, systems and procedures are legally compliant and adhere to sound corporate governance principles.
  • Manage risk by assessing liabilities, reporting and monitoring standards, as well as attending to logistics problems in line with TKGM standards.
  • Ensure effective and sufficient internal control over logistics and alignment with sound governance principles. 
  • Support the Commercial Manager in conducting technical and commercial negotiations toward concluding agreements / contracts to secure freight services for the most cost-effective shipping solutions.
  • Manages the in-transit visibility (ITV) of materials and assets throughout their journey in the supply chain.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with service suppliers, carriers, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide timely updates to internal teams on delays.
  • Monitor and analyze transportation costs and trends to identify areas of improvement.
  • Identifies ways to ensure optimization of transport mediums and utilization.
  • Develop plans to minimize costs, maximize utilization of resources, and improve customer service.
  • Liaises with the relevant transport infrastructure providers.
  • Manage turnaround time of transport.
  • Takes accountability for total transport function.
  • Manage the performance of the transport service suppliers.
  • Coordinate with the Security Department and monitor all TKGM transport Journey Management Plans.
  • Support effective resource management and assist with the planning of work within dispatch through load creation to and from Tulu Kapi, for example, Vehicle Manifests and Authorization letters for Government Check Points.
  • Maintain auditable document control and archiving system.
  • Compile daily activity logs and weekly and monthly reports as required.
  • Identify and actively participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities within the TKGM Logistics section.
Job Requirements:
Key Skills/Experience Required
  • Minimum of 10 years’ operational experience in a logistics role in large operation.
  • Experience with the coordination of logistical support services at national and international level.
  • Relevant experience in the mining industry will be an advantage.
  • Have strategic logistics planning and organization skills.
  • Risk assessment and management skills
  • Proven management skills and experience
  • Possess strong organizational skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Influencing/Negotiation skills

Minimum Required Qualifications

  •  A bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  •  Post graduate qualifications will be advantageous.
Language Requirements
  • Excellent Afaan Oromo speaking and writing. 
  •  Excellent Amharic speaking and writing.
  • English speaking and writing. 
Competencies Required
  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of shipping, customs regulations, and transport regulations in order to ensure that all materials arrive on time and in good condition.
  • Sound knowledge of applicable Local, State and Federal regulatory frameworks
  • Computer literacy with advanced knowledge of the complete Microsoft package
  • Proven analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and meet constant deadlines.
