Job Description:

LonAdd HR Consultancy Plc (www.lonadd.com) is a Recruitment & Outsourcing Company based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with branch offices in Dukem and Hawassa. We are looking to recruit a qualified-on Public Relations/Communications Officer for our client Tulu Kapi Gold Mine.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support effective communication between Tulu Kapi and its stakeholders at all levels in order to impart information, positively influence perceptions and maintain relationships.

This includes the planning and coordinating of all relevant public relations programmes and events, content development for corporate publications, media relations, planning, applying branding guidelines and maintaining online platforms.

This role is also responsible for the implementation of Tulu Kapi’s internal communications strategy aimed at supporting business improvement, the creation of a desired company culture and creating a sense of pride to belong to Tulu Kapi.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Plan, facilitate and coordinate Tulu Kapi’s communication plans as directed from its communication strategy.
  • Conduct internal surveys to determine needs and effectiveness of communication channels.
  • Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate corporate advertising and compile and check that advertorials, editorials and advertisements comply with set standards.
  • Carry out Tulu Kapi’s internal print, electronic and digital communication productions. This includes MD Business updates, briefs, MD monthly presentation, and internal announcements.
  • Compilation and distribution of internal staff newsletters, writing and editing content, arranging photography, overseeing design, print and production.
  • Ensure that copyrights are not infringed upon.
  • Update Tulu Kapi’s website and other external online platforms as required as well as the Tulu Kapi’s intranet content.
  • Do design work (ADOBE package software) and photography; or liaise with external service providers.
  • Draft messages or scripts from senior executives for presentation to employees in written or spoken form.
  • Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organisation and with external content.
  • Advise line managers of developments throughout the organisation, either face to face or through regular written communication.
  • Monitor and evaluate media coverage and compile monthly media reviews.
  • Draft progress and close out articles with appropriate photographic support of Corporate Social Investment (CSI) projects.
  • Upon request, visit the projects initiated by the Tulu Kapi Charitable Endowment to provide service of journalistic quality and standards.
  • Assist the Stakeholder Engagement Manager in the planning and execution of the Company’s stakeholder engagement plan and facilitate and coordinate Tulu Kapi’s public relations activities.
  • Plan and compile for approval, regular media releases in identified publications to keep the public informed of Tulu Kapi activities and achievements.
  • Plan and coordinate presentations to identified visiting stakeholders and adapt communication content to targeted stakeholder audiences.
  • Ensure that the Tulu Kapi brand and identity is promoted in print, electronic and digital material and maintained in line with branding guidelines and standards.

Job Requirements:

Key Skills/Experience Required

  • At least 10 years relevant experience
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a mining, industrial or large corporate environment
  • Strong communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must have demonstrable experience in compiling professional reports.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Public Relations or a related Social Sciences qualifications.
  • Post graduate qualifications will be advantageous.

Language Requirements

  • Excellent Afaan Oromo, Amharic and English speaking and writing.

Competencies Required

  • Excellent computer skills, including confident use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good computer skills, including confident use of Microsoft Office applications and design and layout applications.
