Job Description:

LonAdd HR Consultancy Plc (www.lonadd.com) is a Recruitment & Outsourcing Company based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with branch offices in Dukem and Hawassa. We are looking to recruit a qualified-on Project Manager – On Site for our client Tulu Kapi Gold Mine.

Job Purpose

Responsible for in-country activities related to the Tulu Kapi Process Plant, Accommodation Village, supporting infrastructure and dams, including the oversight, and quality assurance of construction activities manage by others on behalf of Tulu Kapi Gold Mine.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Responsible for all construction activities on Tulu Kapi site, including the oversight of the construction and construction supervision of the Tulu Kapi Village, Process Plant Area, Main Services Area, Mining Services Area, supporting infrastructure and dams managed by others.
  • The establishment of safety culture based on safe production and visible leadership at Tulu Kapi Construction Site.
  • The implementation of TKGM safety system on site.
  • Oversight of the management of the Tulu Kapi Village and the accommodation of TKGM and construction staff during construction phase of the project.
  • Providing technical support to the TKGM Team responsible for the resettlement of effected community at Tulu Kapi.
  • The delivery of the Project at the target date at the agreed quality.
  • Attend to all weekly and monthly construction meetings.
  • Review, comment and provide recommendations on all discipline related detail engineering drawings etc. prepared by contractors.
  • Ensure that all inspections during the construction phase of the project is executed by the project team with detailed reports.
  • Provide expert technical inputs into contractual claims submitted by Contractors, as and when required.
  • Provide inputs in the monthly project report.
  • Liaison with and provided information to the Independent Engineer of the Lenders as and when required.
  • Coaching and mentorship of junior engineers and other construction staff.
  • Manage internal investigations as assigned.
  • General administrative and management duties, as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Key Skills/Experience Required

  • A minimum 10 year of prior project manager/ construction manager experience in the Construction of Mineral Processing Plants and Infrastructure Projects
  • Prior experience working within the EPCM / EPC construction environment as part of the Owners team.
  • Knowledge of international standards and industry best practice, as used for the design and construction of mineral processing plants.
  • Experience with inspection test program and related QA/QC programs as used for the construction of Mineral Processing Plants.
  • Project execution experience in austere and complex work environments.
  • Proven experience in building and maintaining relationships at a working level.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related role in Africa.
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Successful experience with managing multiple tasks, with frequent interruptions while meeting demanding and inflexible deadlines.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Relevant engineering qualification.
  • Project Management Qualification.

Language Requirements

  • Proficient English speaking and writing.

Competencies Required

  • Knowledge of international standards and industry best practice, as used for the design and construction of mineral processing plants.
  • Capacity to work with ambiguity while enforcing rules and regulations governing an operational mine site.
  • Must be able to demonstrate visible leadership while maintaining safety standards, ensuring a safe production worksite.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to lead a Project Team in remote area with minimal support.
  • Ability to formulate and implement strategic approaches to Risk Management aimed at minimizing business and schedule risks as well social and environmental impacts.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Excellent MS Office skills including Excel, Word, MS Project, Outlook, PowerPoint.
