Job Description:

LonAdd HR Consultancy Plc (www.lonadd.com) is a Recruitment & Outsourcing Company based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with branch offices in Dukem and Hawassa. We are looking to recruit a qualified-on Host Land Construction Superintendent for our client Tulu Kapi Gold Mine.

Job Purpose 

The planning, design, specification, permitting, construction, and commissioning for all disciplines of Host Land Infrastructure and Starter homes.

To ensure the smooth delivery of the project within timeframes and to budget while maintaining expected quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Ensure that the project is on track and meeting timeline and budgetary expectations.
  • Ensure infrastructure construction is in accordance with the technical details provided.
  • Ensure Government Departments meet their compliance obligations for what is a government led resettlement program.
  • Pro-actively managing conformance of all design and construction of the Project to relevant Ethiopian norms and standards.
  • Managing contractors undertaking works.
  • Identification and engagement of necessary equipment.
  • Identifying in advance any potential conformance, cost, schedule or constructability issues.
  • Providing input to project evaluation, planning, and reviews throughout the course of project construction.
  • Undertaking contractor work reviews to ensure desired technical project outcomes.
  • Ensure strict control of materials issued to contractors.
  • Monitoring and reporting of construction progress to the project unit.
  • Monitoring of conformance and suitability of all equipment and materials planned for the project.
  • Undertaking all forms of engineering design and planning reviews and preparing reports where necessary.
  • Providing input to and undertaking construction schedule analysis, optimisation and reporting to the TKGM project unit.
  • General reporting on the basis on all matters relating to construction.

Job Requirements:

Key Skills/Experience Required

  • Minimum of 8 years construction experience, preferably 5 years in a mining environment.
  • 5 years’ experience relating to compliance related matters.
  • Construction industry Project Management experience.
  • Previous experience working in construction environments.
  • Excellent MS Office skills including Excel, Word, MS Project, Outlook.
  • Experience working with CAD and AutoCAD.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Decision making and problem-solving skills.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in an engineering discipline – preferably civil, mechanical or electrical.  
  • Project management qualification will be considered an advantageous.

Language Requirements

  • Afan Oromo is mandatory.
  • English speaking and writing.
