School Shuttle Driver

Job Summary 

The Chauffeur provides vehicle chauffeur service to authorized children, as assigned by School Shuttle Coordinator, operates motor vehicles in a safe and secure manner at all times, obeying local traffic laws and patterns & post driving practices such as the Drive Cam policy, responsible for maintaining vehicle at maximum operating condition at all times, and requesting repairs immediately as required.

Specifically, responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

• Drive authorized children from/to their official residences to/from the International Community School of Addis Ababa.
• May also drive authorized persons to outlying areas and towns within Ethiopia on day trip when school is not in session (optional).
• Maintain assigned vehicle in good condition at all times, requesting repairs as needed and keeping vehicle clean.
• Provide security for assigned vehicle when it is off-compound.
• Accurately maintain up-to-date vehicle log, recording trip times, mileage, route/destination, passenger names.
• Perform daily safety check of vehicle prior to beginning of each work shift, i.e. check water, fuel, oil, filters, tires, brakes, drinking water for passengers, umbrellas for passengers, and correct any missing item prior to start of shift.
• Enforce the Shuttle Rider Code of Conduct.
• Promptly report any/all incidents to School Shuttle Coordinator.
• Performing other related commissary duties as may be assign when not performing Driver's duties
• Loading, unloading and shelving supplies and merchandise carefully to avoid damage, including chilled merchandise in freezers and refrigerators.
• Regular cleaning of the commissary, storage rooms and surrounding areas, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting and scrubbing where appropriate.
• Delivering AMCOM home delivery orders to commissary customers
• Performing other related duties as may be assigned.

• Completion of secondary school is required.
• A minimum of Two years of passenger and light cargo vehicle experience with manual and automatic transmissions is required.
• Intermediate written and oral skills in English and Amharic are required. 
• Excellent knowledge of Addis Ababa roads is required, including awareness of main and alternate routes throughout the city.
• Must have accurate and up-to-date knowledge of local traffic laws and patterns.
• Must possess a current and valid minimum Grade III / Public 1 Ethiopian driver’s license.
• Must possess substantial defensive driving skills and be skilled at handling sedans and carryalls.
• Must be able to tactfully interact with other persons, including children, in all situations.
