Senior Mechanic

• Directs and co-ordinates all mechanical maintenance activities, maintains very complex mechanical failures, assists and coaches’ subordinates, prepares performance report about the activities of mechanical maintenance activities, installs new machineries and equipment.

Detail duties and responsibilities

• Plans, directs, coordinates and supervises the activities of the mechanical maintenance unit.
• Dismounts, overhauls, repairs and mounts gear boxes, compressors, pumps etc. and any other repairs which need a very high degree of accuracy and precision.
• Supervises and assists the work of subordinates
• Repairs, replaces, renovates or modifies defective mechanical units either at work site or by having them brought to the workshop depending on the degree of damage.
• Checks all mating units for their tolerance, clearances cleanliness etc. 
• After overhaul or repair work, reports to the immediate superior for approval and makes correction works as directed.
• Installs new machineries or equipment.
• Contacts his superior for assignments that are beyond his capacity and require the guidance and involvement of his boss.
• Participates in overhaul work as a lead mechanic.
• Verifies duties performed by subordinates to ensure compliance with normal procedure, standard, instruction and specifications and recommends adjustment or accepts as it is.
• Engages and leads subordinates on major repair/maintenance, installation, modification and reconditioning of mechanically operating machinery/equipment.
• Carries out research on mechanical engineering problems and in consultation with the head of technical division suggests improvements to reduce frequency of failures and enhance better performance of the plant.
• Ensures that the required type and amount of spare parts are available for maintenance, installation and modification of mechanically driven machineries or equipment.
• Prepares daily, weekly and monthly report and submits to superior.
• Performs any other related duties ad required.
