Organization Profile:

New Millennium Women Empowerment Organization (NMWEO) is an indigenous, non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization working on development, women empowerment, Gende Equality, humanitarian responses, sexual reproductive health education, economic empowerment and Environmental protection interventions in the last over fifteen years.

NMWEO has been re-registered by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Authority for Civil Societies Organization (ACSO) in accordance with Organizations for Civil societies Agency Proclamation No.113/2019 obtained certification with a registration No. 0539

Purpose of Role:

In this exciting new role you will develop and deliver strategic communications and fundraising activities targeted to our key audiences.

The aim of this work is to:

Promote the positive impact of projects being delivered/supported by NMWEO in the community.

Support the delivery and promotion of all fundraising activities/events and the recognition of funders/fundraisers.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Identify key messaging and branding opportunities to enhance the organization's visibility and reputation.
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure consistency and coherence in all communications.

  • Produce high-quality content including press releases, newsletters, blog posts, social media posts, and marketing materials.
  • Manage the organization's website and social media channels, ensuring timely updates and engaging content.
  • Develop compelling storytelling narratives to convey the impact of the organization's work and attract supporters.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to leverage resources and maximize fundraising efforts.
  • Represent the organization at networking events, conferences, and meetings to promote awareness and foster partnerships.
  • Prepare regular reports on campaign effectiveness, donor engagement, and financial outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Use data-driven insights to refine strategies, optimize resource allocation, and achieve fundraising targets.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor contributions, communications, and other relevant information using databases.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in communication and fundraising.
  • Developing and delivering integrated communications campaigns across PR (public relation), advertising, direct marketing, digital and social media
  • Overseeing the design, production, and copy-writing of all print material
  • Maintaining a database photo, case studies, and research/evidence to promote the organization’s work
  • Supporting a range of fundraising events – whether our own events or external fundraising initiatives
  • Building effective proposals and delivering strong presentations to potential funders
  • Responding to general enquires and acknowledging one-off donations
  • Other ad hoc duties when required

Job Requirements:

Key skills and competencies:

  • Strong Writing Skills: Capable of producing clear, concise, and imaginative content.
  • Social Media Management: Skilled in utilizing social media, websites, and email marketing tools for effective communication.
  • Graphic Design Proficiency: Competent in using graphic design software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva to create visually appealing materials for marketing, social media, and fundraising purposes.
  • Fundraising Knowledge: Understanding of fundraising principles, donor motivations, and strategies for revenue generation.
  • Educational Background: Holds a degree, preferably in communications, public relations, or other related field.
  • Communication Experience: 3-5 years Previous experience working in an NGO setting.
  • Organizational Skills: Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and presentation abilities essential for cultivating relationships with current and prospective supporters and funders.
  • Initiative and Stress Management: Proven capacity to take initiative and perform well under pressure.
  • Budget Management: Ability to comprehend and create budgets.
  • Willingness to Travel: Openness and readiness to travel for work-related purposes.
