- Job Description:
Ashewa Technology Solution S.C. (Ashewa), a leading provider of revolutionary technology solutions in Ethiopia, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Legal Advisor to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters related to Ashewa's operations, ensuring compliance, and mitigating risk.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the legal division, providing strategic legal advice and counsel to the CEO, senior management, board and other departments on a wide range of legal issues, including:
- Contract review and negotiation (e.g., software licensing agreements, client contracts, vendor agreements)
- Intellectual property (IP) protection (e.g., copyrights, trademarks)
- Corporate governance and regulatory compliance (e.g., data privacy, labor laws)
- Risk management and mitigation strategies
- Dispute resolution and litigation management (if applicable)
- Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
- Stay up-to-date on legal developments relevant to Ashewa's industry and the Ethiopian legal landscape.
- Manage and oversee legal department budget and resources.
- Identify and manage external legal counsel when necessary.
- Foster a strong working relationship with other departments within Ashewa, ensuring legal considerations are integrated throughout the company.
- Oversee legal aspects of mergers and acquisitions (if applicable).
- Manage legal aspects of human resources practices (e.g., employment contracts, employee handbook).
- Job Requirements:
- BA degree in law or equivalent qualification required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a legal role, preferably within the technology sector.
- Strong understanding of Ethiopian business law and relevant regulations.
- Proven experience in contract review and negotiation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise legal advice to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
- Fluency in Amharic and English, both written and spoken, is a requirement.
