Job Description:

MIH Lewetatoch Yebego Adragot Mahiber (MIH) is a Civil Society Organization established in 2003 and re-registered on 31/05/2019 in accordance with Proclamation No. 1113/2019. With a registration number of 0398, MIH has been actively involved in implementing both development andMIH focuses on various thematic areas to address the pressing needs of communities. These areas include education, health, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), nutrition, income generation activities/livelihoods, agriculture, emergency response for those affected by drought, flood, and conflict, as well as gender-based violence (GBV) and child protection. By working across these diverse sectors, MIH aims to create sustainable change and improve the overall well-being of the communities it serves. emergency projects in collaboration with governmental bodies, international NGOs, and UN agencies.

MIH operates in several areas, including the Addis Ababa City Administration, Afar, Amhara National Regional State, Oromia National Regional State, Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region (SNNPR), and Gambella. By working in these regions, MIH ensures its interventions are implemented where they are most needed, making a significant impact on the lives of the communities it serves.

About the Project: 

Led by FHID360, MIH Lewetatoch Yebego Adragot Mahiber is planning to implement Feed the Future Ethiopia Community Nutrition Activity that aims to improve the nutritional status of women and children through increased and sustained improvements in nine high-impact behaviors that have proven highly effective in reducing malnutrition. These objectives will be realized through enhanced individual and community agency and demand for services, improved access to quality nutrition services at the community level, and improved capacity and coordination among nutrition stakeholders across sectors,

The Job Description:
  • Coordinate planned SBC and Community engagement trainings. 
  • Disseminate and report SBC materials. 
  • Support with pretesting of SBC materials
  • Coordinate the nutrition catchment-based mentorship assessment at PHCU level.
  • o Ensure the availability of necessary nutrition commodities and supplies (VAS, IFA Deworming and so on) at each respective woredas and facilities. 
  • Support in Food Nutrition assessments and surveys in target woredas and kebele
  • Conduct participatory exercise to develop action plans to address multisectoral coordination gaps in target woredas.
  • Provide logistical and other support for woreda-level advocacy meetings on establishment of FN structure and manpower in food and nutrition strategy (FNS) implementing sectors at Woreda and Kebele levels
  • Coordinate the overall multisectoral coordination related activities of in the target Woreda.
  • Monitor the activities of Project Health Officers.
  • Document and share success and case stories.
  • Coordinator and the development of assessment tools, compilation and sharing of  monthly and quarterly reporting format at all levels, 
  • Work with Community Nutrition and LIP MEL/Nutrition officers’ team to document community, facility and woreda level activities and report according to standard procedure
  • Document best practices, minutes of performance review meetings and JSS and share the findings to regional managers and country manager.
  • coordinate LME activities of the project including data collection, analysis and reporting of data, support all assessments designed in different woredas, Coordinate and conduct DQAs at the woreda level and health facilities, coordinate HMIS and eCHIS related training in different woredas
  • Coordinate GYSI Activities including mapping and collaborating youth networks.
  • Ensure the Implementation of Community Nutrition GYSI integration strategy..
  • Represent community Nutrition at Regional, Zonal and Woreda forums.
  • Provide need based technical assistance to woreda health offices.
  • Document and update the woreda profile
  • Experience of managing budget and staffs.
  • Experience of managing project budget, coordinating reviewing project budget versus actual spending.
  • Identifying and monitoring project implementation risk.

Job Requirements:
Qualification
  • MSc/MA/BSc/BA in Health science, Nutrition, Public Health, Agricultural Economics, and related studies 
Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 years for MSc and MA and 5Years for BA/BSC experience in coordinating and managing projects and out of which four years in Health and Nutrition.
Skills Required, Attitudes and Attributes:
  • Experience in Community Nutrition 
  • Training certification in attending Health and nutrition. 
  • Creativity and the ability to work with limited resources.
  • Respect, accountability, excellence, adaptability, innovation, building partnership, communicating with impact, coaching, facilitating change, information monitoring, planning and organizing, leading through vision and value.
Desirable: 
  • Knowledge of the local context and experience in coordinating similar project(s)
  • Knowledge and experience of managing community nutrition project, coordinating similar projects
  • Motor bike driving skill.
