Job Description:

Mujejeguwa-Loka Women Development Association (MLWDA) is a legally registered non -profit, non-religious and non-political indigenous charity organization based in Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State (BGRS) of Ethiopia. The initiative to establish the organization dates back to 1996 where it has started working on health related issues of Gumuz Women particularly focusing on advocacy to enable Gumuz women deliver in their homes, defying the oppressive practices that is culturally imposed upon them to give birth in the forest. This makes it a pioneer organization to intervene for the good of the poor and marginalized Gumuz women in the region

MLWDA invites interested qualified candidate to apply for the position Program Coordinator One year employment contract with possibility of extension.

Job Summary

This is a managerial and advanced professional position responsible for organizing, directing administering conducting and supervising the planning and coordination activities of MLWDA develops strategic plan for MLWDA supervises the completion of all tasks of the service.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Organizes directs and supervises activities in the planning and coordination services with an emphasis on need and resource assessments and development of baselines.
  • Develops strategic plans for innovative new activities as determined in the Five year Plan, in project proposals, and by other departments.
  • Supervise the completion of all tasks required by Project, and liaison office staff and consolidate results in joint meetings.
  • Coordinate and strengthens the documentation and information system at MLWDA.
  • Prepare, coordinates and consolidates the preparation, and distribution of all documentation for project proposal, ongoing project management; quarterly, annual, and operational plans, ensuring that they meet both technical and financial requirements. (In this respect, liaises with finance, logistics and project staff).
  • Liaise with government and others agencies to obtain timely information of fact finding missions for specific recovery and rehabilitation programs.
  • Coordinate efforts to liaise with regional and Zone/wereda/project MLWDA representatives on planning and coordination activities.
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly progress reports for the executive director on planning and programming performance, specifically progress on issues such as task analysis and meeting objective.
  • Present findings and represent MLWDA as required, at from planning and coordination services at seminars, conferences and meetings as necessary.
  • Performs other activities as directed by the executive director.

Specific Duties

  • Support the Director in the development of strategy in MLWDA. Initial responsibilities will also include designing and leading the grant and forging strong professional relationships with representatives from MLWDA and Donors.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director to design and implement relevant projects to the organization
  • Ensure high quality day-to-day technical management of all grant activities to ensure strict adherence with organizational best practice protections standards.
  • Work with the MLWDA Director and other program staff to contribute to new project development, including both narratives and budgets, by coordinating and compiling inputs from other technical and support staff.
  • Collaborate with the Implementing coordinator, project staff, field Team to ensure field-based implementation records and documentation are properly managed and compliant with each donor requirements and best practices.
  • Prepare project proposal for funding and technical reports to donors
  • Act as the point person between the MLWDA and the major stakeholders
  • Ensure/build teamwork with all staff within the association
  • Ensure that all relevant documents are properly maintained and filed
  • Participate in regular project meetings to ensure that appropriate project and management staff are informed of all essential issues regarding potential or ongoing projects.
  • Provide technical to support the implementation of Gender Based and other projects.
  • Provide coordination and technical support for all material development activities.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirement

  • MA/MSc degree in Economics/ Agricultural Economics, Development study, rural development, Public health, Sociology, social science, or related field
  • Or BA/BSc degree in Economics/Agricultural Economics, Sociology, Economics or related field 5 years and above
