Background
Consortium of Ethiopian Human Rights Organizations (CEHRO) is a Consortium of 18 CSOs working on Human Rights, democracy and peace-building registered under the Civil Society Organization Proclamation No. 1113/2011 with Registration No. 3932. CEHRO is working to promote the protection of Human Rights, improve the culture of democracy and peace-building serving as a common platform for members and stakeholders though evidence-based advocacy.
In this respect, CEHRO in partnership with Civil Rights Defenders (an international human rights organization based in Stockholm, Sweden, that partners with and supports human rights defenders globally) planned to offer an internship opportunity for 2 young women. This internship is a great opportunity for recent graduates and masters’ class students who are interested in the promotion of human rights democracy and peace-building. It will be also an opportunity to work on a variety of projects CEHRO is running including researching human rights issues, writing reports and articles, organizing capacity building trainings and engaging in supporting the advocacy engagements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Working with the project officer/Project coordinator to establish priorities, schedules, and deadlines for task.
- Assist in the development of Project Proposals.
- Assist in scheduling meetings and appointments, collecting field supportive supervision data, compiling reports, and summarizing information.
- Assist logistic facilitation in workshop/event coordination/facilitation.
- Assist to compile reports about particular incidents, events, or updates about an important issue for the implementation of the project activities.
- Assist in the social media and related advocacy engagements.
- Prepare weekly reports, briefing, training minutes, and analytical documents and contribute to the production of project documentations and reports.
- Other tasks as required.
Available positions: 2
Location: Addis Ababa
Duration: For three months with possibility of extension based on the performance of the interns and availability of funding.

Education
- This internship program will be provided for young women who are recent graduates or within a year after their graduation or Masters Class students in law, social sciences fields including political science, international relations, journalism. Economics, Management, Anthropology, Psychology, IT, Information Management System, Governance or other relevant fields of studies.
Competence
- Communication skills: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively, listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately, asks questions to clarify, and exhibits interest in having two-way communication;
- Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude;
- Remains calm, in control and good humored even under pressure; Diplomatic Skills;
- Ability to write clear and concise reports
- Uphold accountability and integrity of the organization
- Demonstrated and extensive social media experience is an added advantage
- Proven advocacy, analytical and writing skills
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Publisher)
Language requirement
- Fluency in spoken and written Amharic, English and other local languages
