Job Description:

Background: The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) associated with former President William J. Clinton’s Foundation is currently operating in Ethiopia carrying out a wide range of programs to support the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia in improving the health status of the country by ensuring access and quality of health services. We are committed to increasing our effectiveness through an innovative programming approach that optimizes quality, impact and scale. Being the largest CHAI field office worldwide, we currently employ around 120 staff working in the following programs: Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH), NCD, HIV, Lab Services, Child Survival, Vaccines Introduction, and Health Financing.

Position Overview: The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is looking for a dynamic and self-driven individual to fill the position of Driver.

1. Major Duties and Responsibilities

1.1 Driving Duties the incumbent is responsible for:

· Safe and responsible driving of organization vehicle

· Routine maintenance and care of organization vehicles

· Have ample information regarding the safety of routes

· Running official tasks and assisting in other office services

· Drives office/projects/program vehicles safely and drive staff, officials, visitors, and guests to official destinations.

· Check oil, water, brake oil and clutch fluids on a daily basis, tire pressure; battery, and overall vehicle condition on a monthly basis or after 5000 km whichever comes earlier, test lights, brakes, bodywork for dents, etc.

· Calculate the petrol, oil and lubricant (POL) consumption on a monthly basis,

· Handling travel advances and financial-related activities as per CHAI policy with prior approval from the immediate supervisor

· Reports the needs for maintenance and undertakes minor repairs after getting the approval from immediate supervisor at CHAI.

· Immediately report any accidents on the organization’s vehicle, however minor, including any damage or theft of equipment from the vehicle

1.2 Mechanic Duties

Maintain vehicles in safe operating conditions.
Does safety check of all vehicles before any trips
Does general maintenance service such as changing the oil, changing transmission fluids, doing tune-ups, changing tires, doing minor electrical works, checking coolant levels, changing brake pads and performing minor repair work when vehicles break down.

1.3 Other duties

· Reports any incident while off duty that may affect his driving license entailment, as well as any newly known health problems that may affect his ability to drive

· Assist in/or carry out other office activities and tasks as assigned

Job Requirements:

Job Requirements: Essential Experiences, Skills, and Knowledge:

· Six years and above work experience as a driver with reference, International NGOs experience is advantageous and a driving license/ Certification permit -Category- P1, P2, D1 and /or former Grade three License

· Graduated from an accredited Technical Vocational School/College in Auto- mechanics or related fields

· Good working knowledge of speaking/reading/writing and listening Amharic, English and other national languages

· No history of major accidents within the past three years

· Observe good safety and security practices with passengers

· Serve as on- call duty driver as requested and schedule
