Job Description:

General Overview of Position:

As the Admissions & HR Officer you will you will be the go-to-person for all employee-related and new student’s issues.  This role will fulfill an essential role in the school by helping assess which students to accept that year, alongside various other duties. They ensure that the school has a strong supply of applicants and narrow this selection down by inspecting applications and conducting interviews. By knowing the responsibilities of an admissions officer, you improve your application and showcase your suitability for this role. 

You will be the go-to person for all employee-related issues. This means that your HR duties will involve managing activities such as job design, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training & development and talent management .  This position is important to business success. People are our most important asset and you’ll be the one to ensure we have a happy and productive workplace where everyone works to realize our established mission and objectives. Promoting corporate values and shaping a positive culture is a vital aspect of a complete HR job description and specification.

Position Specifics:

  • Assist in the preparation on and updating of employee handbook.
  • Ensure employees follow policies and procedures.
  • Keep the staff directory and organizational charts up to date.
  • Maintain records and reports, including teacher certifications and professional development hours.
  • Oversee hiring and exit interviews and procedures, including new employee orientation and the processing of initial and terminal paperwork.
  • Participate in teachers' union meetings and contract negotiations.
  • Perform benefits administration.
  • Schedule interviews.
  • Serve as liaison between administrators, professional and support staff, school board and teachers' unions.
  • Supervise the activities of the HR team.
  • Verify candidates' credentials, including licensing and certification if required for the position. Perform or arrange for reference checks and background checks.
  • Bridging management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues
  • Arranging student recruitment events: This starts with facilitating student applications and positively representing the school. Admissions officers take part in, and even arrange, open days to provide prospective students with a clear view of the school and its facilities.
  • Communication: is the main skill that this duty requires, with the aim being to promote and present the school to potential students. Good communication allows an admissions officer to convey the key tenets of the school and showcase it as an excellent place to study. This might involve giving talks at an open day, with the intent of informing both students and parents about the benefits of studying at that LionHeart Academy. You will often work in teams, so good teamwork and organization skills are also helpful for executing open days and successfully running other student recruitment events.
  • Responding to application queries: You will educate parents and students about our school wherever necessary, either at recruitment events, over the phone or via email. Possible students consider their applications throughout the year, and parents may want to ensure that their children receive a good standard of education if their application is successful, so questions are common
  • Assessing student applications:  You will process the student applications at LionHeart Academy receives through website, email or in-person.

Reports to: 

The Admission & Human Resource Officer reports to the Director of Operations & Finance.

  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
  • Degree in Human Resources, business administration/management, or related field
  • Candidates with a master’s degree in a similar field are at an advantage
