National Agronomy & Extension Expert

The role of the National Irrigation Agronomy Expert is to contribute to the work of the R-PCU in the planning and implementation of all measures related to irrigation farming.

Project title: Strengthening Drought Resilience in Ethiopia (SDR Phase II)

Period of project: Approximately 05/2023 – 11/2026

Duration of Assignment: 24 months over four years

Duty station: The duty station of the expert will be Semera in Afar region 

 Qualifications:

Education:

• BSc Degree or above in agronomy, plant science, agricultural extension or a similar discipline

Sectoral experience:

• Good practical experience of at least 5 years in agricultural extension in small-scale irrigation in dry and semi-dry areas;
• Experience in community training, participatory methods and establishment of innovative agricultural crops production systems;

Regional experience:

• Experience in rural development projects in Afar Region. 

Language skills:

• Proficiency in Afar language
• Ability to communicate in the English language
