Job Description:

Eur¡ka Yebego Adragot Dirigit (in short: ‘Eur¡ka’) is a local NGO registered in accordance with Ethiopia's CSO Proclamation No. 1113/2019. We pursue any sustainable action aiming at a visible progress of children’s rights and well-being through projects seeking particularly to: prevent or alleviate poverty; increase households’ food security; enhance health and nutrition statuses; protect or support persons at risk; empower mothers and caretakers; improve access to quality education; expand family planning practices; provide decent shelter and clothing; offer legal assistance and psychosocial counselling, etc.

 

Our new intervention, entitled ‘ResPreP’ (comprehensive SGBV Response, Prevention and Preparedness action in conflict-affected areas), is funded by UN Women as a coordinator of the Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) and will be implemented throughout the year 2023 in the Amhara region. The project’s overall objectives are: 1/ to provide life-saving assistance, healing and recovery services to survivors of sexual and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) among host communities & IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) populations scattered in the region, such as Ataye and Shewa Robit; 2/ to prevent further GBV cases & foster safety, resilience and conflict readiness through awareness-raising and capacity building of women’s associations in chronically affected areas of the North Shewa zone.

 Job Profile 

2 female candidates will be recruited as Administrator or Administrative Assistant, per their qualifications. They will be key members of our team to manage operations around Debre Berhan and Gondar. And they will report to our Gender Project Manager (hierarchically) as well as to our Deputy Director (functionally). Their key responsibilities will include:

In Gondar: procuring and managing the stocks of food and other items necessary to our safe house residents; keeping receipts and invoices, preparing payment vouchers, recording every expenditure on a petty cash book; supervising daily staff’s attendance; maintaining a fixed asset register and ensuring adequate use of properties and premises; dealing with the tax authority and local administrations; as well as facilitating meetings. The hired candidate will also take part in finance-related trainings of our beneficiaries;

In Debre Berhan: procuring furniture, equipment & stock items for our partner women’s associations; keeping receipts and invoices, preparing payment vouchers, recording every expenditure on a petty cash book; supervising daily staff’s attendance; maintaining a fixed asset register and ensuring adequate use of all properties and premises; dealing with the tax authority and local administrations; as well as facilitating meetings. The hired candidate will also take part in cash-related activities with our beneficiaries in the field.

Education level:

  • Required: Degree in accounting, business or management.

Career Level:

  • Junior Level (1+ - 2 years experience) / Mid Level (2+ - 5 years experience)

Professional experience:

  • Required: At least one year in the field of finance, accounting or administration.
  • Preferred: A first NGO experience will be valued.

Other expectations:

  • Required: Written and spoken proficiency in Amharic, as well as proper English for book-keeping and preparation of financial documentation; computer-literate (especially with MS Excel); team player; high stress tolerance; flexibility and adaptation capacities; hard-working & self-motivated person; never convicted / free from substance abuse addiction.
