This is an external vacancy announcement from Global Environmental and Occupational Health (GEOHealth) Hub for Research and Training in Eastern Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda). The GEOHealth Hub is a research and training platform centered at Addis Ababa University, College of Health Sciences, School of Public Health that was established with grant support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of the United States of America in School of Public Health, Addis Ababa University, College of Health Sciences. The project focuses on air pollution and health, occupational safety and health, climate change, and Health research. The School of Public Health at Addis Ababa University College of Health Sciences wants to hire, on a contract basis, a professional in the following job position for GEOHealth project.

The data manager/analyst will coordinate the data entry, management, and analysis and ensure the data quality that should meet according to the set research plan.

 Job Description

• Regular data entry of all the GEOHealth Hub research activities related to time series study, children’s health, Mothers’ health, and heat stress
• Ensure the data entry quality is to the level of standard that conforms to the SOPs
• Compile and submit regularly the data entry performance and any associated challenges to the Research Administrator and data manager
• Keep the confidentiality of the data.
• Work under the supervision of the Research Administrator
• Work closely with the GEOHealth researcher team/ staff
• Communicate with GEOHealth staff effectively through communication channels such as Email and regular Skype calls as appropriate
• Be available and participate in the data quality review meeting when necessary
• Work under the supervision of the Research Administrator
• Work on any related assignment pertaining to GEOHealth research activities

Screening: The candidate is expected to go through rigorous recruitment processes based on document review and interview

Workplace: Addis Ababa

Duration and condition of Employment: One Year with the possibility of extension to another year based on performance

Monthly Salary: Attractive, negotiable, with communications allowance; subjected to tax based on Ethiopian tax regulation. 

Qualification & required skills:

• BSc/ Diploma in statistics, demography, accounting or Business Administration or related field
• Skill in electronic data management (ODK or similar tool) (Preferred)
• Managing Microsoft Office tools such as word and excel
• At least 2 years of experience in the areas of data entry and management
