Who we are

SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. The organization started its humanitarian work with the opening of its first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. The organization has been providing life-saving provisions such as food, water and health services for a very significant number of children devastated by severe drought and the subsequent famine.

Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia aspires that every child grows up with love, respect and security.

As part of SOS CVE's effort to respond to different emergencies such as drought, flood, conflict etc, which arise from time to time in different parts of the country, the organization has secured funding from Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to implement an eleven months Emergency Nutrition project in the North Wollo zone of Gazo and Angot Woredas of the Amhara region.

Why we need you?

We are looking for CMAM data clerks who will be based in the two Woredas offices(Angot & Gazo) and is responsible for supporting the SOS CVE CMAM operation  in the monitoring, implementation and evaluation of activities through data management (data entry, collation, analysis, interpretation and reporting), developing, updating and maintaining databases and proper project documentation. The job holder will be responsible for documentation and sharing of key learning for the improvement of the project.

Your role....

While working with as a CMAM data clerk you will be in charge of ;

    • Designing tools, checklists and schedules for collecting data at the input, output and outcome levels in association with the relevant programme staff and the changing needs and requirements of  the CMAM project
    • Supporting in the writing and compilation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, midterm, annual narrative and end of project reports
      • Preparing and reporting on M&E’s activities and plans of action at SOS CVE field based meeting and other related platforms for information sharing.
      • Carrying  out routine field visits, visits preceding baseline and end line surveys to collect data for potential case studies, taking progress monitoring photos
      • Updating the weekly activity trackers in order to feed into the  M&E component of the monthly field progress report   
      • Reporting  the findings or trends from data analysis and identifying the need for further analysis or evaluation as required
      • Sharing learning from M&E process and document case/success stories overall programing share with the wider team
      • Supporting, overseeing the periodic assessments including baseline, midterm and end line evaluation on the emergency nutrition project(CMAM and IYCF-E), and periodic Health Facility work
      • Monitoring programme activities to ensure they are carried out in line with organization’s internal systems and procedures and that adherence to the Core Humanitarian Standard’s commitments on accountability are met
      • Liaising with SOS CVE Addis Ababa based M&E Manager and other partners to maximize the benefits of data collection and analysis and reporting.
      • Providing technical support on M&E and evidence-based recommendations to the relevant Project Manager and Partners
      • Undertaking data collection directly or in conjunction with project and local staff as required

      Child Safeguarding 

      • Support the process of ensuring that child safeguarding and child protection mainstreaming are integrated into all M&E frameworks through measurable output and outcome indicators.
      • Support the process of piloting and scaling up local level beneficiary complaints’ mechanisms in relation to staff conduct, with an emphasis on the Child Protection Policy and measure to prevent children from any sort of abuse.
      • Responsible to take part in awareness raising sessions and capacity building trainings in relation to CS and Code of Conduct and  to prevent and protect children and young people from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination
      • Support children and young people to make them understand the CS risks and protection mechanisms 
      • Responsible to report any CS suspicion, concern, allegation or incident immediately, following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures. CS reports should be made to the CS team at programme level and/or to the respective line manager

      The must haves:

      Education 

      • BSc’ degree or Diploma in public health with IT experience and/or health and nutrition information management

      Experience

      • Experience in data collection and M&E in health and nutrition with at least 2 years of experience
      • Demonstrated experience in developing/designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating plans and associated quantitative and qualitative tools
      • Have basic skills on information assessment, analysis and report writing skills
      • Excellent computer knowledge with command on MS Excel among other packages of MS Office 

      Desirable 

      • Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluation. CMAM related experience is an added advantage.
      • Understanding of the current M&E trends and especially M&E systems in CMAM program.
