Job Description:

Job Title: Warehouse clerk/Storekeeper

Department: Supply Chain and /logistics Management

Job Summary

The Warehouse clerk/storekeeper is fully responsible for delivering operational excellence within the distribution center having full accountability for ensuring costs, internal metrics, safety and customer delivery measures required within the distribution center and deliver an exceptional level of service to customers. The Warehouse clerk is also responsible for the delivery of continuous improvement programs including but not limited to; reducing cost, improvement in inventory management system & protocols, process including material management virtual modalities like ERP, improving service and building team capabilities. Strategically manage warehouse in compliance with company's policies and vision. That is, an integrated inventory management, through identification of relationships as part of the Supply Chain and Logistics department with other business units (Retails operation and Agro processing units) and other functional areas/ departments.

Position duties or responsibilities:

• Delivery of strategic change plans for Operations

 • Optimising Operations

 • Building a team for the future

• Accountable for ensuring company operating metrics within the distribution centre are delivered and correctly reported,

• Apply the basics of Inventory management principles like FIFO, LIFO, EOQ & ROQ in line with the necessity & prevalence accordingly

• Ensure distribution centre costs are managed to budget,

• Ensure personal and collective actions taken within the distribution centre are in the best interest of the Company as a whole

 • Ensure the distribution centre complies with internal audit processes and stock take procedures

• Improve the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the distribution centre and develop a culture of lean operational excellence

 • Ensure that company policy and procedures are adhered to

• Ensure compliance with all systems, procedures and processes

• Ensure compliance to FMHACA health, safety, environmental and quality procedures

 • Represent the Company and values of the business and portray a professional and business like image to all customers, potential customers and other people met in the course of work

• Ensure optimum layout of the distribution centre along with effective logistical strategy to achieve the highest rates of picking & accuracy and make the best use of the space available

 • Lead the continuous review and development of warehouse and transport standard operating procedures to improve efficiency and reduce errors

• Work closely with the Retails Supply Chain & Logistics Managers to ensure seamless integration with the transport operation; improving service and reducing costs amongst own drivers and contractors

 • Undertake contingency planning

• Ensure  EOQ (Economic Order Quantity) is achieved & carrying cost is optimized with an uninterrupted supply of goods & services is achieved amongst the user departments, & always make sure that there is re-order level stock present on the shelf when placing the next one for processing by due consideration to processing lead time

• Ensure the distribution centre operates safely and that all colleagues are aware of their personal obligations and commitment to being serious about safety

• Promote teamwork and collaboration across the distribution centre

• Operational experience gained within a fast-paced environment with both warehouse and transport operations

• Financial understanding and cost management

 • High energy, focused leader with the ability to drive through change

 • Able to ensure all processes are geared towards achieving Company strategy

• Able to challenge accepted norms and practices and facilitate innovative solutions to problems

• Experience in dealing directly with the customer and their management team

• Able to design, deploy and evaluate depot-based strategies to ensure effective co-ordination of the processes

 • Able to deploy effective risk management

 • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

• Able to work under pressure and to agreed deadlines

• Manages and exceeds internal and external customer expectations

 • Knowledge of appropriate legislation and its impact on operations

• Robust understanding/knowledge of logistics and warehousing methods and techniques

• Experience of system implementation and process improvement would be highly advantageous

 

Skills Required:

- Excellent computer skills required with proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Outlook and ERP preferably

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

- Ability to communicate with members of the organization at all levels

- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and possess strong time-management skills

-  Ability to focus on executing priorities as directed by management

- Knowledge of Warehousing methods and procedures, product characteristics, reporting procedures, departmental procedures and policies; accounting principles, and controlling

- Knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures and processes

- Some one with the ability to multi-task, dispensable, works with transparency & integrity,

- Reduce errors, (little or no supervision required)

- Always respect deadlines for work & reporting to supervisors

- Punctual, self disciplined, loyal & trustworthy always

Educational & Experience Competencies:

- Diploma or Bachler Degree in purchasing and supplies management, Logistics Management or related field from an accredited college or university

- 3+ years of experience as a warehouse clerk or storekeeper. Experience in Agro- processing and retail or hospitality industries is preferred
