Job Description:

BACKGROUND

Dexis Consulting Group is a for-profit company founded in 2001 to strengthen management systems for the U.S. Government across developing economies. Dexis provides monitoring and evaluation, program management, institutional support, project implementation, and training solutions to address some of the world’s greatest challenges. Dexis is the implementing partner for the USAID/OTI Ethiopia Support Program (ESP), currently in its third year of implementation. The program supports activities that aim to build an enabling environment for inclusive and peaceful national consensus processes by strengthening intra- and inter-group relationships and actions, advancing inclusive and constructive public discourse and mitigating mis/disinformation and hate speech.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Amhara Intern will support the Amhara Grants Management Unit (GMU) and in doing so, will be provided with significant professional experiences, learning, and empowerment to be applied to the internship and in the intern’s future career path. The Amhara Intern will serve as the connective tissue between the Amhara team’s program and operational units. The Amhara Intern will be provided with rigorous training from operations (procurement, finance, and HR) and MEL (monitoring, evaluation, and learning) experts on how to compliantly and efficiently complete tasks. The Amhara Intern will also be provided with strong mentorship from program experts and managers in order to diversify and bolster the intern’s skillsets and future career path.

 

REPORTING & SUPERVISION

The Amhara Intern will report to the Amhara Regional Program Manager (RPM) and will work closely with the Amhara Program Development Officer (PDO), Procurement Officer, Finance Officer, and HR Assistant.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

§  Receive rigorous training in finance, procurement, and HR processes from operations experts in order to learn how to compliantly and efficiently complete operations tasks according to USAID/OTI ESP’s standards;

§  By applying the received training, coordinate closely with the Amhara PDO and Field Coordinator to execute operations including, but not limited to, raising purchase requisition forms (PRFs) and completing STTA requisition forms;

§  Receive rigorous training in proper and thorough monitoring and evaluation of program activities from MEL experts;

§  Apply monitoring and evaluation training by conducting monitoring visits to program activities in the field in close coordination with the PDO, Field Coordinator, and other Amhara GMU members

§  Receive rigorous training on proper and efficient use of program platforms, including databases and SharePoint and on developing Activity Notes;

§  Under the direction of the PDO and Grants Manager, manage and organize platform sites and upload files to their correct locations;

§  Draft Activity Notes and support report writing with the guidance of the PDO and other Amhara GMU members;

§  Support logistical scheduling, including tracking field visits by Amhara GMU members requiring use of program vehicle or rental vehicle;

§  Support raising the correct and compliant requests for rental vehicles; and,

§  Other operational duties as assigned by the RPM.

 

Job Requirements:

Required Skills & Qualifications

§  A Bachelor’s degree in social science field is required

§  At least one year of relevant work experience is required, experience in international development is preferred

§  Strong communications skills and ability to work as part of a team is required

§  Ability to take direction and willingness to learn is required

§  Fluency in oral and written Amharic is required

§  Fluency in English is preferred
