Job Description:

Position:                       Data Analysis and Visualization Coordinator (Internal/External)

Duty Station:                Addis Ababa

Duration of Contract: One-year contract, renewable (with 60 working days Probation)

POSITION SUMMARY: 

This position entails regular analysis and visualization of data for Resilient Food Security Activity(RFSA) that to support efficient reporting and adaptive decision-making; He/She will deliver data in useful and appealing ways to users

Principal Responsibilities

Key Result #1 – Design and implementation

●       Organize and lead the design and implementation of data analysis and visualization strategy and tools

●       Collaborate with HQ to ensure that the reporting needs of the project are adequately supported by the design of the data warehouse

●       Design, develop, and implement frameworks for data analytics and data management for the RFSA

●       Acquire data from different data sources, design data models, and visualize, discover, evaluate, and interpret trends from the data

Key Result #2 – Data analysis and Visualization

●       Conduct data preparation (data cleaning, merging, data transformation) using data cleaning protocols

●       Perform data analytics to generate actionable insights and develop data-driven recommendations

●       Develop data visualization dashboards using different BI tools

●       Visualize routine monitoring data for evidence-based decision making at all levels of the RFSA.

●       Ensure consistent and timely access to high quality and useful analysis and share dashboards for reporting and adaptive management

●       Ensure project documentation for data analysis and visualization is complete with all required documents and is filed per agency and donor requirements

●       Assist with preparation of trends analysis reports and documentation of case studies and promising practices

●       Consistently assess reporting and analysis needs for all stakeholders for developing analysis and visuals that respond to their needs

●       Present aggregate information in ways that are universally understandable or easy to interpret and spot patterns, trends and correlations using charts, graphs, infographics and other pictorial diagrams

●       Combine data result sets across multiple sources

●       Create analytics models using advanced machine learning and statistical techniques

Key Result #3 – Data Quality

●       Ensure data cleaning, quality review and verifications before analysis and use of the data

●       Analyze operational data to discern trends and provide some recommendations to drive decision-making

●       Identify data quality issues, regularly and visually reports data quality issues and propose strategies to take corrective actions

●       Regularly document data quality issues for learning and adaptation in producing high quality data and disseminate key analysis results to improve the data quality and facilitate decision-making

●        Create reports and visualizations that highlight key data quality issues

●       Participate in quality assurance (QA) processes to ensure data products are high quality

Key Result #4 - Capacity building

●       Coordinate with M&E team to provide training on data analysis and visualization to increase data utilization at all managerial levels for adaptive management 

●       Coordinate with M&E team to provide training on data quality issues

●       Support ad-hoc data requests from colleagues across the Consortium staff

Education and Experience

⮚ BSc in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science and Computer Engineering or other related fields; a Master’s degree is a plus.

⮚  At least four years of experience working in a complex work environment, preferably in projects related to business intelligence and analytics; Strong data analytics tools such as POWER BI, Excel, R, Python, Tableau; Programming languages skill such as python, Java and C# is preferable;

⮚  Strong statistical background and proven knowledge of statistics for cleaning, analyzing, and exploring statistical data and experience in using statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, MS-Excel and Epi-info,

Supervisory Responsibility

⮚The position has no Supervisory Responsibility.

Language

⮚ Proficiency in spoken and written English language.

  • All FHE staff should promotes safe conducts and exercises caution in all work activities; staff should accountable for own personal and professional actions and conduct;

Gender Responsibilities

  • Be aware of the stereotypes about women and men’s capacities, and discuss how they influence staff, in assigning responsibility, and in managing resources at unit and organization level.

  • Be able to describe how gender issues relate to one’s job responsibilities and how gender equity can be promoted through the execution of those responsibilities.

  • Be familiar with the local Gender Focal Point(s), and go to her/him to learn more about gender issues, or when there is a gender grievance or harassment issue to resolve

  • Within each project and department, discuss FH’s Gender & Diversity and Sexual Harassment and sexual exploitation Policies, so that all staff are conversant with them.

  • Refrain from any comments or gestures that indicate prejudicial views of female staff, especially female supervisors.

  • In each Project and Head Office, ask women staff what changes would make it more “gender-friendly”, organization and implement the recommendations
