Job Description:

Mission

 OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION:

 Reporting to the Project  Manager, the physiotherapist/occupational therapist contributes to the delivery of physical and functional rehabilitation care to patients targeted by the HI intervention.

Specially in Gambella Region Intervention areas

 MAIN TASKS

Expertise

Provides technical expertise for his/her project

  • Complies with international technical norms and standards when implementing clinical activities within his/her area of expertise
  • Identifies the need to adapt project documentation in accordance with international technical norms and standards.
  • Raises awareness of rehabilitation norms and standards amongst members of multidisciplinary teams
  • Is responsible for the technical quality and relevance of the therapeutic activities carried out within his/her area of expertise.
  • Informs his/her technical authority about the identified technical needs
  • Adjusts his/her activities according to audit recommendations
  • Improves his/her technical capacity by building on lessons learned and good practices identified from the project
  • Respects the codes of ethics related to his or her profession and organization

Contribute to professional development

  • Carries out self-assessment of his/her clinical practice and identifies strengths and  areas of needed improvement towards professional development
  • Identifies jointly with his/her technical authority his/her professional development plan
  • Attends selected activities proposed for professional development and according to  professional development plan designed with technical authority
  • Contributes to practice analyses with colleagues towards professional practice development

 Implementation and monitoring

Ensures the implementation of therapeutic activities, in collaboration with the appropriate services and in accordance with international procedures and standards.

  • Assesses the functional capacities and rehabilitation needs of beneficiaries and their caregivers
  • Defines personalized therapeutic action plans
  • Provides rehabilitation services (therapeutic education and care,  and technical aids) to beneficiaries and their caregivers
  • Adapts treatment plans according to the progresses and needs of the beneficiaries and their caregivers.
  • Adapts exercises and recommendations to ensure continuity in the home environment. Proposes related home adaptations if needed.
  • Ensures that care is provided with respect for the person (safe environment, respect for safety rules, dignity, confidentiality)
  • Informs and trains beneficiaries and  caregivers on the rehabilitation process, and exercises and adaptations to be continued in the home
  • Demonstrates awareness of relevant referral pathways. Identifies and reports referral needs
  • Provides public health relevant messages to households and communities, linked to rehabilitation specificities
  • Updates beneficiaries' files according to the activities carried out and observed changes in the situation.
  • Keeps updated on beneficiary overall conditions and treatment plan. Collaborates with the other social, health and rehabilitation professionals involved in the beneficiary treatment plan.
  • Ensures a daily quantitative and qualitative report on the activities, through the tools put in place

Contributes to team and project life

  • Identifies and shares with the project team any situational changes that may have an impact on the target population and/or project
  • Participates in the qualitative analysis of the project to adapt the activities according to the needs of the beneficiaries and the context.

Required Number:1

Contract Duration: one year with the possibility of extension based on the availability of funding 

Job Requirements:

Qualification(s):

Essential

 Bachelor's or Master's degree in physiotherapy or occupational therapy

Experience (type and amount of experience) :

Essential

  • At least 2 years of experience as  physiotherapist, Functional Rehabilitation officer and Related Health experience.

Skills (knowledge, abilities required for the position, refer to skills repository document) :

  • Expertise in physical and functional rehabilitation
  • Strong team collaboration
  • Ability to work in a tensed and volatile context with strict security measures
