Pharmacy Technician

Purpose:

• Receives and stores purchased medicines and medical supplies as per the purchase orders and supporting documents; checks specifications and expiry dates; hands over to the dispenser on instruction from supervisor through appropriate forms; arranges medicines properly following guidelines; takes inventory; records transactions and submits reports, organize and record financial report.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

• Assumes responsibility for proper custody and dispensing of medicines and medical supplies according to procedures and guidelines.
• Arrange medicines and supplies on shelves systematically according to guidelines and standard practices.
• Dispenses specified medicines (drugs) to patients according to prescriptions and medical supplies to health staff of the clinic for clinic use according to instructions of the supervisor.
• Advises patients regarding the dosage of the medicines prescribed and manner of taking or applying them as well as the precautions to be taken according to the physician's prescriptions.
• Take and report regular and periodic inventory of stored medicines and medical supplies for control and timely reordering purposes. Fills in purchase requisitions forms for medicines and medical supplies for approval; follow up the processes to finalize the order and payment, collects medicines and medical supplies from authorized suppliers.
• Disposes off expired medicines and supplies according to established procedures and instructions of supervisor.
• Renews his/her professional and operating licenses according to the procedures and guidelines of the Ministry of Health or any other competent health authority.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care

• Manage various tasks and projects as they arise and upon manager’s request.

Education:

• Collage Diploma in Pharmacy

Work Experience:

• 4 years of work experience
