Editorial research Intern

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the development of an editorial calendar with the direction of the Product Editor (s)
• Update the organization’s different databases including editorial and marketing contacts, freelancers, and contributors.
• Support news cycle management tasks by conducting research, creating dashboards and charts, and other tasks
• Conduct background research, story analysis, and contacts for reporters
• Support the editorial team in other daily tasks requested by the editor in chief
• Monitoring local and International news trends;
• produce, repurpose and translate short news
• accompany journalists to field assignments to assist in collection of data  
• - Curate important and relevant content for digital publishing on social media accounts

Quantity: 2

• A minimum Bachelor's degree in the Social Sciences including Journalism, Communications, and other related fields from a recognized University. Candidates with experience in a content-faced company and working towards a BA/MA are also considered for this internship.

Experience and skill set

• A media junkie who consumes more than 20hours a week of content on the internet and believes s/he can make the experience better for audiences
• Great at doing a portion of the tasks above and ready to be coached to learn new skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent knowledge of MS Office
• Ability to adapt to changes in a fast-growing company and provide solutions to these growing pains
• Ability to think strategically and execute with efficiency
• Ability to put the consumer and customer first in every interaction involving the company and always look for ways to improve the customer experience through tactical and operational process
• Ability to work cross-functionally with teams and negotiate constructively for the purpose of audience growth using evidence
• Ability to adapt to and perform well in a multicultural setting composed of people from different backgrounds and strong opinions
• Fluency in english
• -Fluency in Afaan Oromoo is a plus
