We are looking for a Translator/Editor who are responsible for the translation, editing and revision of facilitator guides and counseling tools from their origin of language to Kafa, Wolaita, Hadiya, Gamo Gofa, Sheka, Gedeo, Kambata. They will work on more language adaptations other than those mentioned above once the prototype testing & pilot stage are finalized and move towards scale-up. This role is hands-on or on-call basis and often involves working as part of a team. The Freelance Translators/Editors must be able to complete a wide range of activities requiring clear communication, an excellent understanding of major sexual and reproductive health interventions in the country, and should have attention to detail. They must work well under pressure without compromising quality and deadline

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Willing to work on-call basis.

• Read source documents critically and clearly understand the intention and context of the material to be translated/edited.

• Work closely with the program or department focal person to ascertain that the work is on the right track.

• Translate/edit the source material into Kafa, Wolaita, Hadiya, Gamo Gofa, Sheka, Gedeo, and Kambata languages in a way that can easily be understood by the intended audience.

• Willing to work on more language adaptations other than mentioned above once prototype testing & pilot stage are finalized and move towards scale-up.

• Be flexible to accommodate changes i.e., additions and deletions through the design process.

• Submit neatly crafted document in soft copy with editable version.

• Make corrections as per the feedback given by the program or department focal person.

• When necessary, attend prototype testing/ meetings on the contents embodied in the material.

What are we looking for? The basics

• Master’s degree in Literature, Communications, Journalism, Health Education, or related fields with three (3) years of demonstrated experience

OR

• Bachelor’s degree in Literature, Communications, Journalism, Health Education, or related fields with four (4) years of demonstrated experience 

What would get us excited?

• Proficient in MS office applications and market research and analysis tools

• Proficient in English, Amharic, Kafa, Wolaita, Hadiya, Gamo Gofa, Sheka, Gedeo, and Kambata languages, both written and verbal communication
