Job Description:

Ethiopian National Association of the Blind (ENAB) is the first Organization for Peoples with disabilities in Ethiopia. Since its establishment, ENAB works more than 62 years for the realization of the right for people with Visual impairments. ENAB is collaborating and networking with many local and international organizations towards this objective. One of such collaborative projects being implemented with financial and technical support from Norwegian Partners is Together for Inclusion (TOFI) project. This project focuses on three thematic areas: Human Right and Advocacy (HRA), Inclusive Education (IE), and Economic Empowerment (EE). As part of the project, the Inclusive Education thematic area of the project ENAB, ADRA Ethiopia and SOS CV are implementing inclusive education learning approach jointly in sixteen schools found in Addis Ababa, Amhara, Oromia and SNNPR regions.

So, ENAB ADRA Ethiopia and SOS CV are currently looking for competent individual for the following Vacant Post.

ENAB,SOS-CV Ethiopia and ADRA Ethiopia as being the TOFI II Project partners in Ethiopia with the technical support of the Norwegian partners planned to provide different modules based trainings for the teachers working in the project schools that are found at the four regions(Addis Ababa, Amhara Oromia and SNNPR.) The approach of the training will be, first training of co-facilitators identified from the three consortium members, and principal trainers identified from universities, teaching colleges as well as observers.

The training for the Principal trainers and the Observers will be trained at one central place in Ethiopia and with the aim of providing the training to the in-service teachers found in the project schools. While providing these trainings to the in-service teachers, the principal trainers will be assisted by the co-facilitators from ENAB, SOS and ADRA and this position holder. All of the modules are based on introducing the different learning approach which is relevant to inclusive education.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinating different workshops, activities and other events related to Inclusive learning Approach at the School, regional and Federal level organizations.
  • Coordinate different logistics in collaboration with ENAB, SOS-Child Village Ethiopia and ADRA Ethiopia for different training, activities and events that will be organized.
  • Support partners, national and international NGOs and Government duty bearers in organizing an Inclusive Education Learning approach.
  • Collect and compile timely reports produced by observers.
  • Collaborate and communicate with ENAB, SOS and ADRA staff that is responsible for the implementation of ILA.
  • Support, roll-out and development of Enabling Education Network (EENET)/ILA modules in pilot schools found in four regions.
  • Communicate and share key lessons learned, challenge encountered while leading workshops and other form of knowledge exchange among TOFI partners who are working on ILA. 
  • In collaboration with the partners he/she is responsible to prepare and follow up the ILA program budget, logistic and facilities that will be used for the delivery of trainings for Principal Trainers, INSET (teachers) and observers.
  • Coordinate the relation of the project related to ILA to MoE, regional education bureaus and other relevant stake holders.
  • Leading communications with in the partners and between MOE and TOFI ILA working group, EENET, and other relevant stakeholders regarding the implementation of ILA
  • Serving as a focal person for the ILA approach under TOFI project

Report to: Directly report to ENAB National Inclusive Education coordinator, and will work in close Contact and collaboration with the three Consortium members inclusive education staffs as well as Norwegian partners delegate for coordinating ILA

Duration of the Position Holder:  March 31/2023 with possibility of extension based on the availability of additional funds.

Job Requirements:

Education level:

  • MA/BA

Educational background:

  • Multi cultural education, Education Planning and management, Curriculum, Educational Psychology, Special Need Education and related fields

Work Experience:

  • More than 5 years for MA and 8years for BA) of experience in the fields related to those mentioned above. Of these 2-3 years of experience working in inclusive Education and coordinator level.
  • Informed in disability related concepts.
  • Good skills in communications with English language, technologies etc.
  • Experience working effectively with governments, civil society, multilaterals organizations, disability people organizations (DPOs)non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and the private sector
  • Experience in education project management and planning program design
  • Experience in reporting and monitoring using quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Knowledge and Experience in the education system of Ethiopia mainly on inclusive education
  • Experience in developing and conducting trainings and workshops.  
  • Willingness to travel to different places.

Competencies

  • Excellent command of the English language, Amharic, Afan Oromo language is a plus and superb communication skills, including both written and verbal. Strategic thinking
  • Knowledge of the inclusive education system in general and that of Ethiopia in Particular. 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
