Who we are

SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. We started our humanitarian work in Ethiopia with the opening of our first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. Since then, we have expanded our programs  to different regions where there are significant needs for intervention and where we believe we can work in partnership with all relevant  actors to bring  sustainable  positive outcomes for children’s and young people.

Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and those that are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; we aspire that every child grows up with love, respect and security.

SOS Children’s Villages in Ethiopia has secured a four years project from DANIDA (Danish International Development Agency-Government Agency). The project will be implemented in three East African countries, including Somaliland, Kenya. It contributes toward the objective of Young care leavers in East Africa and the Horn of Africa to demonstrate resilience and self-reliance to become independent and contributing members of society. In Ethiopia, the project shall be implemented in Addis Ababa

Why we need you?

We are looking for a Purchase Driver is responsible for procuring project items. He/She will follow of procedure and policies and maintain inventory and handling vehicles yearly registration and maintenance and liaise any Logistic related process of the location.

Your role...

    Arrange supplier selection according to agreed criteria & select suppliers with the ad hoc team formed based on fully recordable and auditable facts
    • To be responsible for sourcing and ordering of equipment, instruments, services, spare parts and operating supplies from both local and overseas suppliers.
    • Purchasing Materials and Services strictly according to the procumbent manual, Quality and Legal requirements;
    • Plan and maintain vendor data base for effective management of supplier’s relationship that benefits the organization
    • Monitor and track the performance of the suppliers e.g. on-time delivery of the requirements, in the right quality and quantity, to deliver the best value to the organization and customer’s (program units, functions, co-workers and beneficiaries and other stakeholders) needs.
    • Development and implementation of Procurement plan and Supplier partnerships;
    • Constantly looking for new sourcing opportunity – Develop supplier base & evaluate vendor on annual basis;
    • To be the trainer for the customers and suppliers to comply with the organization policies and procurement procedures;
    • Lead negotiations on contract & operating issues with suppliers;
    • Prepares contracts for delegated suppliers (preferably using standard SOS frame contracts approved by HRDO and Finance Department, including payment terms).
    • Executes contract approval process according to existing financial policy and Schedule of procurements.
    • Liaise with immigration office for business visa processing
    • Liaise with different government offices to facilitate issues related projects, Vehicle Insurance, etc.
    • Make sure vehicles are serviced and maintained based on the schedules
    • Coordinate and renew vehicle insurances fro NO and program locations

    Must have:

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, procurement and supply chain or related field preferred
    • 3-4 years’ experience in procurement and Purchasing role is a must
    • 3rd grade driving license

    Skills

    • Purchasing, negotiation and planning skills (e.g. inquiry/negotiation/e-commerce, PO issuing, commercial agreements/contracts, work planning etc.)
    • Project management skills is advantageous Solid knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, policy, and systems
    • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
    •  Ability to analyse problems and strategize for better solutions
    •  Ability to negotiate, establish, and administer contracts
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
