3.   Brief Introduction

ODA is a nonprofit local organization established and registered as an Ethiopian Residents Charity, with the mission to contribute to community development through innovative community based approaches. Currently ODA is awarded a project entitled Adolescent and Youth Sexual Reproductive Health (AYSRH) project from The Lucile and Packaged Foundation to be implemented in East Shoa, West Shoa, South West Shoa and Arsi zones of Oromia region.

4  Job Summary

Under the leadership of Program Manager, the Regional Project Manager is responsible for planning, execution and for overseeing the successful implementation and delivery of AYSRH program activities to achieve its intended goal in the project zones. He/she coordinates the planning, implementation and delivery of defined and agreed upon and service delivery/practice of standards and provides oversight to all AYSRH program. He/she will also be responsible for the development of detailed work plan for the implementation of the ODA-AYSRH Project by ensuring its implementation as approved by the donor. He/she also assists the zonal level Coordinators and woreda level project coordinators in the overall project activities.

5. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with other staffs, develop annual work plans, including activity descriptions, time tables and indicators
  •   Manage AYSRH project staff and build the stronger team.
  •   Work with stakeholders  to monitor the AYSRH activity implementation
  • Develop and oversee project monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting, including appropriate indicators, tracking against targets
  • Develop efficient processes and systems for translating lessons-learned into practice for timely resolutions of implementation challenges.
  •  Lead the preparation, dissemination of best practices, project briefs, and success stories
  •  Together with the key stakeholders in the regions, identify key issues and priorities in line with AYSRH  project objectives;
  •  Work with regional government sectors such as education, health, women and children, youth and others to strengthen, coordination, collaboration and cooperation on all aspects of project implementation and to mainstream AYSRH activities in the routine academic program/co-curricular activities
  •  He/she will make periodic supervision to ensure that project implementation is according to plan and is run smoothly.
  •  He/she is also responsible for the timely preparation and submission of financial and programmatic reports to the donor.
  • Manage communications through media relations, social media etc;
  •   Keep all members of the team up-to-date with relevant project information; and ensure technology is used correctly for all operations (video conferencing, presentations etc.) when appropriate;
  • Actively shares knowledge with the Regional, Zonal and Woreda AYSRH program.
  • Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.


Job Requirements:

6. Qualifications and Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in public health, Reproductive health, Sociology, Psychology or equivalent and a minimum of five-year relevant work experience in  reproductive health projects, or related program of which three years in a senior advisory /supervisory/ coordination role;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health , Reproductive Health Sociology, Psychology or equivalent and a minimum of Eight years relevant work experience in  reproductive health projects, or related program of which three years in a senior advisory /supervisory/ coordination role;
  • Previous experience in RH/AYSRH, specifically working with schools, health facilities and the community
  • Proven experience of stakeholder capacity building skill: facilitation, presentation, communication and monitoring
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Amharic and Afan Oromo language;
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders, understands the health system, worked at policy making and leadership level and has the capacity to engage policy makers in resource allocation and mobilization in the future. 
  • Willingness to travel to project zones and woreda
