INTER AIDE FRANCE WATER SUPPLY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Presentation of Inter Aide France (IAF) Water Supply Project:

IAF has been involved for more than 30 years in Ethiopia on Rural Water Supply and has contributed to the construction of more than 1,500 water points serving around 450,000 users (over 90% of these water points are still functional today). 

IAF is today concentrating on 3 Zones of the SNNP Region and Dawro Zone in the South-Western Region and aims at increasing the number of functional water points. IAF supports community-based Water User Associations and Federations to construct durable infrastructures to manage Operations and Maintenance /O&M/ for existing infrastructures in collaboration with the Governmental Water Offices.

Main duties – under the direct supervision of Inter Aide France Kembata-Tembaro Water Supply Program Officer:

  • Supporting and Monitoring the development of water services in 3 Woredas of IAF WASH Project in Kembata-Tembaro Zone of SNNPR
  • Monitor the collaboration between Inter Aide France Team and the Woreda Water Office established through specific MoU with regular field meetings
  • Following that strategic plans elaborated with IAF and the WWO are well applied
  • Support each WASH Program Officer Assistants and Social-Technical Supervisors in the 3 Woredas on strengthening Water User Associations (WUAs) and Federations (WUAFs) and setting up Multi-village Water services
  • Regular visits and evaluation of WUAF and Multi-Village water structures
  • Supporting local stakeholders in compilation and analyses of data regarding water services activities
  • Ensure that reports and data transmitted by WWO and WUAF are delivered on time and accurate
  • Support the WWO and IAF WASH Program Officer Assistants and Social-Technical Supervisors in analyzing the data and elaborate strategic planning in the 3 Woredas of Kemebata-Tembaro Zone
  • Provide synthetic and relevant data to IAF WASH coordination
  • Participating in the elaboration and update of IAF Water Services Strategies
  • Facilitate regular meetings between IAF and its partner GOs and NGO to exchange on the results of the water services activities
  • Develop propositions and relevant formats/guidelines/training to improve IAF WASH strategy and methodology, based on the outcomes of meetings with stakeholders
  • The position is based at Shinshicho Town with daily field visits, meetings, and training.

Type of employment: on contract basis (one year with possible extension)

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and experience requirement

  • BA in Rural and Family Science, Sociology, Social Anthropology, Public Health, Community Management/Development, Psychology or other related fields with a strong inclination towards social and fieldworks
  • At least 3 years of work experience in the community-based approach of WASH or other related programs/Projects 
  • With experience in collaborating with governmental and non-governmental organizations

 Skills and Interest Required for the Position:

  • Fieldwork (meeting with IAF Team, Governmental and Non-Governmental Stakeholders, Community, …)
  • Interest in water supply schemes management, operation, and maintenance
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint…) with good knowledge of data analyses
  • Strong social inclination (knowledge of community-based approach, training of community-based associations…)
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, Amharic
  • A motorbike driving license is a plus

Essential/Mandatory Requirement

  • Fluent in spoken and written English, Kembatigna Language
