Job Description:

Mahibere Hiwot for Social Development (MSD) is a non-governmental and non-profit making organization founded in October 1999. Since its establishment, MSD has been implementing different programs in collaboration with partners on providing broad range of HIV prevention, care and treatment services and Sexual and Reproductive health (SRH). Migration & Trafficking, Good Governance, Education and Child Development in different parts of the country.

MSD is looking for a qualified and competent applicant for M&E Coordinator position:

JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Learning Officer position is to assist in the design and development of program Performance, Monitoring Plans (PMP) and ensure that it is utilized by the project and that MERL is an integral component in all objectives areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: 

  • Assist the development of MERL system, regularly track project progress and facilitate impact evaluation in terms of project’s contribution towards achieving wider objectives and goals;
  • Organize and/or conduct monitoring and internal reviews based on schedule;
  • Proper monitoring cheek list for the project office and the organization;
  • Emplace data base HVC Project intervention targets;
  • Conduct regular monitoring with project coordination team;
  • Provide technical assistance for the project team and the organization on data gathering documenting and reporting;
  • Makes filed visits and uses other appropriate methods to assess progress and impacts of projects implemented by project area and organization;
  • Organizes project evaluations against the original project and insure that it suggests way of correcting deviations;
  • Consolidate monitoring and evaluation findings/data and make available for the project coordinator and other staffs;
  • Assist the presentation, delivery and documentation of research or key learning pieces to key stakeholders and policy makers involved in OVC efforts;
  • Together with program, conduct research and learning activities at a program level and coordinate expertise around baselines, learning reviews and evaluation related activities;.
  • In collaboration with other project units and partners, plans and coordinates joint monitoring visits and project review sessions;
  • Make sure project data is timely entered into data base: properly analyze data and generate analytical summaries to be used for reporting;
  • Together with the program prepare periodic report, consolidated annual work plans to be submitted to the donor relevant Government Offices and MSD Head office;
  • Document best experiences and lessens for learning when advised by program officer and program coordinator;
  • Compile a quarterly monitoring and evaluation report and submit to his/her supervisor;
  • Provide training on documentation and adequate assistance for staffs and other relevant stakeholders
  • Facilitates compilation of regular monitoring reports prepared by different projects along with evaluation recommendations;
  • Provides data deemed important for concept paper or proposal development;
  • Extend technical support to MSD Staffs in the identification of solutions to MERL challenges they are encountering;
  • Compile, share and disseminate lesson learned, promising pracitice4s and challenge;
  • Keeps up to date with developments in the sector (self-help group approach, including best practice examples in-country and internationally, and ensure on-going personal development and learning;
  • Ensure the communication of learning within the organization, with partners and other stakeholders;
  • Carry out other related activities as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

 Term of Employment: Contract  Possibility of Extension 

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • MPH, BSc Nurse, HO or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 4 years experience.

TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS

  • Willingness to work under pressure;
  • Good interpersonal and ability to communicate information accurately;
  • Skills in developing M & E data collection tools, indicators and plans;
  • Computer literacy in basic database and statistical software.
