Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

§  Participate during refugee teacher’s selection, recruitment and contractual agreements 

§  Follow up daily program implementation and closely working with refugee teachers, Parent teachers and school management committees.

§  Ensure all education centers, facilities and school compound is safe and conducive to children

§  Request and submit education equipment, materials and supplies like school furniture and text books to students and incentive teachers.

§  Prepare and submit monthly and weekly center plan to education officer and follow up its implementation

§  Assisting education officers during pre-service training and orientations for newly requited supervisors and incentive teachers

§  Use and distribute the necessary formats (registration formats, registration book, attendance, mark sheet, rosters and reporting) and properly place in safe place

§  Assist refugee teacher during continuous assessment, test and final examination preparation to measure students’ performance 

§  Manage and follow up school feeding program in the school compound 

§  Conduct classroom observation at least every week and give the necessary technical support to supervisors and incentive teachers.

§  Assist Education Officers during in-service training for incentive teachers at least on quarterly basis on teaching method, classroom management, lesson planning etc.

§  Follow up and assist incentive teachers during daily lesson plan preparation and weekly education activity plan

§  Follow up and assist incentive teachers during teaching learning process through mentorship and coaching

§  Assist refugee teachers to mobilize the community and work closely with PTAs to reduce drop out students 

§  Assist incentive teachers to prepare rosters, mark sheet and the necessary documentation    

§  Working with refugee teachers during house to house visit, community mobilization and children registration in the camp

§  Work closely with camp based child protection staffs

§  Prepare weekly/ monthly update, incentive teachers and students data and report submit to program coordinator and Education Officer 

§  Planning:

§  Prepare detailed work plan (monthly, quarterly, annually) and estimate budget for the project with reference to project document,

§  Prepare and conduct facilitators, teachers and school communities training as scheduled

§  Develop and communicate project monitoring plan with facilitators, teachers, parent/care givers, pertinent government stakeholders and line manager

§  Prepare and communicate procurement plan related to projects activity, ahead of time

§  Assess and identify needs and gaps of the respective target schools based on the assessment tools.

     

Perform any other activities based on line manager’s assignment

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALFICATION, EXPEREINCE, COMPETENCIES:

§  Degree in Early Childhood Care and Education and other related social sciences

§  Minimum 1 years’ experience preferable with NGOs especially in development and emergency education projects.

§  Experience in working in refugee camp settings particularly in education sector

§  Have a good knowledge on working in refugees’ context

§  Have a good knowledge on working with children particularly within the learning context.

§  Willingness to live and travel in a hardship area

§  Team working and ability to work under pressure.

§  Computer skills (Microsoft word and excel).

§  Good communication skills – in English, Amharic and local languages.

Strong data collection, consolidation, analysis, interpretation and report writing skills
