Job Description:

We are in the process of hiring a committed driver/logistic officer for the Ethiopia program, based in Addis Ababa with frequent travel to project areas. 

Overall role profile

Reporting to the administration and finance Manager, the incumbent is responsible for providing safe driving services to Light for the World’s business in the Ethiopia country program and coordinates and manages vehicle rental and delivery process and field visit requests in a systematic and timely manner. He/She will be in charge of setting up a properly operating system that is in place, understood, and adhered by the team Ensuring that periodic scheduled vehicle maintenance is completed and reported. Providing safety and security briefings to travelers where it deemed necessary.

In close collaboration with the program and administration team, the role holder is responsible in coordinating operations with customs and other governing bodies to ensure smooth clearance and delivery of goods and services to the end-users and facilitate the necessary support from the government offices for the overall operation of the country program. In close cooperation with the respective colleagues from the county office, he/she further plays an important role in handling all procurements in the organization, managing inventories, and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records. Maintaining and updating supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times, product ranges, will fall under his/her responsibilities. The role holder is responsible in updating him/herself and adhere to the organizational policies and procedures and always remain alert about the safety and security situation of the country. 

The post holder needs to be systematic in the way he works and to have experience of setting up good. and clear systems for others to use. Good written and spoken English is required. Ability to collaborate. well with others, to build good relationships quickly to get things done. This will include the ability to inspire confidence in people at all levels. The incumbent needs to show that he can work under pressure, and able to plan his work while dealing with urgent demands. Ability to work on own initiative, identifying. what needs to be done without close supervision. resilient and adaptable, and not easily deterred by setbacks. Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel and be able to learn new things quickly without a great deal of training or support. Need to have the highest levels of integrity and honesty, able to inspire the trust of people at all levels. Comfortable working in a less hierarchical structure; be hands-on and willing to share the tasks of others.        


Job Requirements:

Person specification

Diploma in an automotive engineer or related discipline. Additional academic qualifications that are suitable for the job listed above will be an added value.  At least 8 years of experience in the role listed above. and experience of working for INGO setup is required. An exceptionally safe and experienced driver, with proven experience of driving long journeys on difficult roads while maintaining the highest standards of safety of passengers and pedestrians alike. Able to repair the vehicle in the field where necessary.
