Job Description:

FH Ethiopia would like to invite potential  internal/external candidates to apply for the following position:

 

Position:                                 Human Resources and Organizational Development Director (HR&OD D)

Duration of Contract:           One-year contract, renewable


POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION

 

·        HR&OD D is a member of Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and works closely with all other members of SLT

·        The position supervises the Organizational Development Manager and the Human Resources Manager.

 

POSITION PURPOSE

This position plays a key role in promoting the holistic ministry of FH-Ethiopia (FHE) through the framework of “FH Heartbeat”. S/he is responsible for overall leadership, performance and quality of HR & OD department in FH Ethiopia.  S/he will lead the development of HR Polices and design department strategies in alignment with the FH E Country Strategy and all HR-related FH Global policies.

 

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Key Result #1 – Provide strategic leadership in the areas of HR & OD to the Country Office

1.      Advises the Country Director, the Deputy Country Director and other Senior leaders in matters related to HR & OD

2.      Plans and manages human resource management and organizational development functions through seamless coordination and communication between the two units (HR & OD)

3.      Represents the country office globally and creates networking in relation to human resources;

4.      Closely work with FHE Senior Leadership team (SLT) to ensure that standards of good practice in management are met for all Departments.

5.      Facilitates communication between staff and management. Guides managers and employees on problem solving, dispute resolution and compliance with legislation and other regulations

6.      Actively participates and contributes to leadership decisions as a member of SLT.

7.     Supports the CD in development and execution of change management methodologies that promote a culture of trust, openness, inclusive participation and alignment to FH Heartbeat

Key Result #2 – Provides key HR leadership for the Country Office

1.      Develops human resource and organizational development policies and procedures including recruitment and selection, training and development, performance appraisal, promotion, salaries and benefits in alignment with existing FH Regional and Global policies and FH E Country Strategy.

2.      Conducts regular labor market survey including remuneration and benefits package and ensures that the payment and benefits of FH E is on the desired level;

3.      Undertakes job analysis and remuneration study for the organization;

4.      Issues employment letters and signs contracts on behalf of FH E as per the written request of departments;

5.      Facilitates interview panels and induction process for senior positions;

6.      Consults with management on performance, organizational and leadership matters. Conducts needs assessments to determine measures required to enhance employee job performance and overall organization performance.

 

Key Result #3 – Lead the OD & Staff Development process of the Organization

1.      Ensures that Organizational Development practices and programs are functioning and benefiting FH E staff including but not limited to staff training and capacity building, onboarding & orientation, leadership development, Succession planning, spiritual formation, etc.

2.      Designs, implements, manages, and evaluates employee engagement, recognition, and professional development programs and initiatives.

3.      Design and lead organization-wide learning and development strategy to ensure that individuals and teams are equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to achieve organization’s goals and objectives.

Key Result #4 – Staff Management and Development 

  1. Provide direct line management and leadership of HR and OD Managers as assigned. Intentionally coach and mentor direct reports.
  2. Ensure HR Unit staff capacity is sufficient to implement the country level strategy; coordinate recruitment, interviews and selection of staff as needed.
  3. Travel to field project offices as needed to provide leadership and encouragement to staff and provide written field visit reports upon return
  4. Models leadership to all HR Unit staff and intentionally develops the leadership potential of key staff in his/her Unit.

SAFETY AND SECURITY RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Encourages compliance of Safety and Security principles and policies of the organization by all staffs;

·         Communicating with staff members in Field Offices and operational areas periodically and making sure that all staff members are aware of the safety and security procedures;

PROTECTION AND SECURITY CLAUSE

  • As appropriate, shall be responsible for creating, promoting and maintaining an environment that prevents sexual exploitation and abuse and take appropriate measures for this purpose. 
Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Vibrant personal relationship with Christ
  • Enthusiasm about the Heartbeat of FHE,
  • Proven experience of senior management and leadership particularly in the management of change, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Highly developed leadership, influencing and communication skills, and demonstrable capability in relationship building at all levels.
  •  Deep understanding of the Ethiopia labor Law
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer literate

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

·         Masters’ degree in Business Administration or Human Resource Management.  

·         10 years of relevant experience out of which 5 years on managerial leadership position.
